SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Error: Invalid prefix or suffix characters
Invalid prefix or suffix characters. (MS Visual Database Tools)
When you try to right-click on a table and Select Edit Top 200 rows in SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio you might get the above error and not allow you to edit the rows.
This happens only if you are connecting to SQL Server 2012 Database from 2008 Management Studio. Apparently SQL Server 2008 Management Studio does not support the Edit Feature when its connecting to SQL Server 2012 Database in the back end.
To resolve this issue, upgrade your Management Studio to SQL Server 2012 alternatively you can always use the SQL Script option to Edit the rows.
